KHULNA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) -The Bangladesh Navy rescued 24 fishermen along
with their fishing trawler Madina-6 after it was stranded in the Bay of
Bengal due to engine failure.

The Navy ship BNS Aparajeyo, while on regular patrol duty on Monday, detected
the stranded trawler about 29 nautical miles south of Mongla Fairway Boya.

Using radar, the naval personnel identified the vessel as being in distress
and rushed to the spot, said a Navy press release this evening.

Upon reaching the trawler, the fishermen informed the Navy that their engine
had broken down, leaving them drifting in deep sea without any communication
equipment.

The sailors rescued all 24 fishermen and provided them with food, drinking
water, and primary medical care.

The trawler had left Kutubdia on October 29 for fishing in the deep sea but
became stranded after its engine malfunctioned.

Despite rough seas and adverse weather, BNS Aparajeyo towed the trawler some
35 nautical miles to Hiron Point near the Sundarbans and later handed it over
to the Coast Guard (West Zone) for further action.

All rescued fishermen are reported to be safe and in good health, the press
release added.
