GOPALGANJ, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) - Seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed among 2,820 small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila under the government’s agricultural incentive programmme for the Rabi season today.
The distribution ceremony was held this morning at the Upazila Parishad premises, organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and Sadar upazila administration.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Rakibul Hasan and Agriculture Officer Mafroza Akhter were present at the event among others.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, each farmer received specific quantities of seeds and fertilizers depending on the crop type.
A total of 850 farmers received 20 kg of wheat seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer each.
For mustard cultivation, 1,000 farmers were given 1 kg of mustard seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer each.
In addition, 10 farmers cultivating sunflower Suryamukhi (OP) and 75 farmers growing sunflower (hybrid) each received 1 kg of sunflower seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.
For China Badam (groundnut), 50 farmers were given 10 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer, while 65 onion growers received 1 kg of onion seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.
In pulse cultivation, 110 farmers received incentives for moong dal (5 kg seeds, 10 kg DAP, 5 kg MOP per farmer), 330 farmers for masur dal (5 kg seeds, 10 kg DAP, 5 kg MOP), and others for khesari (8 kg seeds, 10 kg DAP, 5 kg MOP).
Agriculture Officer Mafroza Akhter said the incentive programmme will bring an additional 2,820 bighas of land under Rabi crop cultivation in the upazila.
“Through this support, farmers will expand the cultivation of wheat on 850 bighas, mustard on 1,000 bighas, sunflower (OP) on 10 bighas, sunflower (hybrid) on 75 bighas, groundnut on 50 bighas, onion on 65 bighas, moong dal on 110 bighas, lentils on 330 bighas, and khesari on 330 bighas of land,” she said.
