KHAGRACHARI, Nov 07, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration has distributed Taka 27.35 lakh in financial assistance among victims of the recent violence at Ramshu Bazar in Guimara upazila of Khagrachhari, as part of their rehabilitation efforts.
Checks were distributed among the families of the deceased, the injured, and those whose shops and houses were damaged in the fire during the violence.
The distribution ceremony was held this noon at the Guimara High School auditorium under the rehabilitation programme of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief for those affected by the violence that took place on September 28, 2025.
The families of three deceased persons received Taka 2,00,000 each, 13 injured persons received Taka 15,000 each, and 97 owners of shops and houses damaged in the fire received Taka 20,000 each as financial assistance.
A discussion meeting was also held on the occasion under the initiative of the district administration. Superintendent of Police Arefin Jewel, Khagrachari Hill District Council Chairman Shefalika Tripura, and Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khondaker addressed the function.
Leaders of various religious, political, and social organizations, as well as representatives of the civil society from Guimara upazila, also spoke on the occasion.
Speakers termed the Ramshu Bazar violence as an unexpected incident and called upon all to work together to prevent such occurrences in the future while maintaining communal harmony as before.
