RAJSHAHI, Nov 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Rajshahi city unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today observed National Revolution and Solidarity Day with a series of programmes.

The three-day observance began in the morning with the hoisting of the national and party flags, followed by the release of pigeons and balloons in front of the party's city office at Malopara.

Later, a discussion meeting was held at Batar More crossing with BNP Chairperson's Adviser Mijanur Rahman Minu as the chief guest. City BNP President Mamun Or Rashid presided over the event.

Among others, former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor Mosaddique Hossain Bulbul, former city BNP general secretary Shafiqul Haque Milon, and current general secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Riton also spoke.

Speaking on the occasion, Minu said November 7 is not just a date in the calendar but a symbol of national unity and democratic consciousness.

"On this day, under the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, democratic forces opened a new chapter in the nation's history," he said, adding that the BNP is committed to passing on Ziaur Rahman's ideals to the new generation.

A colourful rally was also brought out in the city to mark the occasion.

As part of the three-day observance, the BNP will organize a blood donation campaign on Saturday and tree plantation programmes on Sunday.

"We are honouring the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman through these initiatives," said City BNP President Mamun Or Rashid. "Our aim is to inspire the younger generation with his ideals and contributions to the country."
