JAMALPUR, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) – A cleanliness campaign was carried out in the district town with the pledge to keep the roads, houses, business establishments, office rooms, and every courtyard of the municipal area clean.

Jamalpur Municipality, with the assistance of the district administration, upazila administration, and NGOs, organized the campaign.

Administrator of Jamalpur Municipality, Mousumi Khanam, inaugurated the cleanliness drive.

In a brief discussion, she said, “This municipality belongs to all of us. If we do not throw garbage everywhere and put it in dustbins, the town will remain clean. Our sanitation workers will collect the garbage from the specified places in vehicles and take it to the dumping station.”

She said that due to people's ignorance, today the Brahmaputra River and other water bodies have been polluted by non-biodegradable and toxic waste, including plastic and polythene.

“We want to build a beautiful town. If other private institutions and social organizations come forward, it will be easier for the municipality to maintain cleanliness,” she added.

Human Resource Development Director of Unnayan Sangha, Jahangir Selim, presided over the meeting.

Among others, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jinnat Shahid Pinky and Director of Programs at Unnayan Sangha, Murshed Iqbal, were present.
