JASHORE, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - A couple was killed in a road accident at 
Bakoshpur Bazar in Manirampur upazila of the district today. 

The deceased were Ranjit Kumar, 49, and his wife Papiya Das, 40, residents of 
Chandpur village of the upazila. 

The accident took place around 12 noon when an engine-run power tiller 
collided head-on with a motorcycle, leaving the bike rider and his wife 
injured critically, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manirampur Police Station 
Bablur Rahman Khan.

The couple was taken to Manirampur Upazila Health Complex. When their 
condition deteriorated, they were shifted to Jashore General Hospital where 
the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

They were going to Manirampur from Jhikargachha on a motorcycle.

The power tiller along with the driver has been taken into custody, the OC 
added.
