Six-member BRUCSU election commission formed

RANGPUR, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - A six-member Election Commission has been formed for organizing the Begum Rokeya University Central Students' Union (BRUCSU) and Hall Students' Union (HTU) elections for the first time since establishment of the university. 
 
This decision was finalized at the 116th syndicate meeting held in the meeting room of the university's administrative building on Tuesday, a BRUR press release said here tonight.
 
BRUR Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shawkat Ali presided over the meeting participated by all members of the syndicate. 
 
This Election Commission has been formed with the approval of the syndicate as per the Formation and Management Rules 2025 of the Central Students' Union and Hall Students' Unions of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. 
 
Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of the university Professor Md Ferdous Rahman has been given the responsibility of the Chief Election Commissioner in the formed Election Commission.
 
The five Assistant Election Commissioners are: Professor Dr Md Shahzaman of the Department of Statistics, Associate Professor Md Masud Rana of the Department of Management Studies, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department Dr Pradeep Kumar Sarkar, Head of the Department of English Dr Mohsina Ahsan and Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Md Hasan Ali. 
 
The university syndicate hopes that this election will create an opportunity for democratic participation of students and that the practice of leadership in the university will be further consolidated through a free, fair, impartial and participatory election. 
 
The students of BRUR are going to get the elections of the central and hall student unions for the first time since the establishment of the university.
