CHATTOGRAM, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a
terrorist to 17 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for possessing arms and
ammunition five years ago.
The court of Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge Serajum Munira
delivered the verdict to Md. Abdur Rahim, 50, son of the deceased Abdur
Rashid of Hamid Char area under Chandgaon Police Station.
Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Morshedur Rahman Chowdhury Rokon stated
that the accused Abdur Rahim has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the
arms charges and seven years for the cartridges.
The incident took place on May 22, 2015, when Abdur Rahim Prakash, a robber,
attempted to flee upon noticing the presence of police in the Madhyam Mohra
Hindupara area of Chandgaon Police Station in the city but he was apprehended
by the police then.
A single-barrel gun and a blue short gun cartridge were seized from his
possession at the time.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Nasim Hossain filed a case at Chandgaon Police
Station in this connection.
The court delivered the verdict in the presence of the convicted individual
after hearing from seven out of six prosecution witnesses, the APP added.
