JASHORE, Nov 4, 2025(BSS) - The seventh death anniversary of BNP’s former standing committee member and ex-minister Tariqul Islam was observed here through various programmes.

The district BNP and its front organizations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the death anniversary of the senior most BNP leader who was called as the ‘architect of modern Jashore’.

He died of old age complications on this day in 2018 at a hospital in Dhaka. 

As part of the day’s programme, the leaders and activists of BNP and its front organizations offered fateha at the grave of their senior most leader at Karbala Graveyard in the town at about 9am. A doa mahfil seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of the deceased leader was also held there.

Among others, BNP central Vice Chairman and wife of the deceased leader Prof Nargis Begum, its Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary (acting) and younger son Anida Islam Amit, President and General Secretary of district BNP Syed Saberul Haque Sabu and Delwar Hossain Khokon, attended the programmes.

Before the doa mahfil, the leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Shramik Dal distributed food among the working class people on this occasion.

The district unit of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal arranged a Quran Khani, doa mahfil and food distribution programme at Birampur Hafizia Madrasha and Orphanage on the occasion of the death anniversary. 

The district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal organized a blood donation programme at the same venue on this occasion while the Zila Matshajibi Dal distributed caps and prayer mats among the musallies at the same place.

The Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal district unit distributed water filters to 40 educational institutions of the district.

Similar programmes would also be held across the district tomorrow and the next day, president and general secretary of the district BNP said.

A memorial meeting of the leader of the south-western part of the country would be held at Jashore Town Hall Maidan at 3pm on November 6, President of district BNP Advocate Saberul Haque Sabu told BSS, adding that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is expected to attend the memorial meeting as the chief guest.
