SHERPUR, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - Seeds and chemical fertilizers were distributed among small and marginal farmers in Jhenaigati upazila of the district today.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ashraful Alam Russell inaugurated the distribution programme as the chief guest at the upazila parishad conference room this afternoon. 

Speaking at the programme, the UNO said that farmers will be benefitted greatly after getting free seeds and fertilizers under government incentives. In the future, the cultivation of mustard, onion, lentils and peanut crops will increase further. 

Farmers have already prepared arable land for planting seeds. 

Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Farhad Hossain presided over the function. Upazila Cooperative Officer Md. Rukunuzzaman, Youth Development Officer Md. Habibur Rahman, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Zahid Hasan and Deputy Assistant Officer Md. Masudur Rahman were present, among others.

The Upazila Agriculture Department said that free mustard, onion, lentil, peanut seeds and fertilizer will be provided to 2,710 farmers growing various crops in Jhenaigati upazila in the 2025-26 fiscal year under the government incentive programme.
