JHENAIDAH, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - A college student was killed in a road accident at Anantapur village in Maheshpur upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was Sajeeb Hossain, 17, son of Sanwar Khan of Laraighat Mathpara village of the upazila. He was a second-year student of Padmapukur Degree College.

The accident took place around 11.30 am when a motorcycle collided head-on with a local made vehicle (Alam Sadhu), leaving motorbike rider Sajeeb injured. 

Locals quickly rescued him and took him to the Maheshpur Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maheshpur Police Station Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter and said efforts are being made to identify the Alam Sadhu.

The body has been handed over to the family.
