RANGAMATI, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and three others were injured when a covered van hit his bike at Betbunia under Kaukhali upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Paisi Thoai, 32, son of Suicha Aung Marma of East Monai Para area under Betbunia and also an office assistant of Kashkhali High School.

The accident took place in front of the Betbunia Police Outpost this afternoon when a covered van hit a motorcycle from opposite direction, leaving bike rider Paisi Thoai dead on the spot and injuring his wife and two children, said Saiful Islam Sohag, officer-in-charge (OC) Kaukhali Police 
Station.

They were returning home on a motorcycle after completing the Kathin Chibar Daan festival at Betbunia Central Buddhist Bihar, he said.

Three others, including his wife, son and daughter, who were on the motorcycle, were given primary treatment at a local hospital. 

Police arrested the covered van driver Abdur Rahim, 38, in this connection, the OC added.
