SIRAJGANJ, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) - Seeds and chemical fertilizers have been
distributed among 8,310 farmers in Sirajganj to boost mustard cultivation
during the upcoming winter (Rabi) season.
The distribution programme was held on Sunday morning at Sadar upazila
auditorium, where each farmer received one kilogram of mustard seeds along
with 10 kilograms of Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of potash (MOP)
fertilizers.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam attended the event as the chief
guest while Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Monowar Hossain presided over the
distribution function.
Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)
Anwar Sadat, Agriculturist AKM Manjure Maula and Sadar Upazila Agriculture
Officer Agriculturist SM Nasim Hossain were present, among others.
Organised jointly by the Upazila Administration and the Department of
Agricultural Extension, the initiative aims to encourage mustard cultivation
among the small and marginal farmers under the government's "Agricultural
Incentive Programme" for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Under this programme, support is also being provided to promote the
production of other Rabi crops such as wheat, peanut, sunflower (hybrid),
winter onion, lentil, khesari, and arhar.
The event was moderated by Agricultural Extension Officers Md. Saeedi Rahman
and Marufa Akhter.
