GAIBANDHA, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) - A six-year-old boy drowned in a pond at Fotekha village under Sonaroy union of Sundarganj upazila in the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Rifat Miah , 6 , son of Rabbi Miah of Boloram village in the same union.

According to police sources, Rifat went to his grandfather's house in the morning. In the afternoon, he was playing football with his mother near the pond when he accidentally slipped into the water and drowned.

Later, locals recovered his floating body from the pond and took him to the upazila health complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Thana confirmed the incident and said an unnatural death case has been filed in this connection.
