NETRAKONA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - Two passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed and three others injured as their vehicle hit the rear of a sand-laden truck parked beside the Netrakona-Mymensingh highway in Purbadhala upazila of Netrakona on Thursday.
The accident occurred around 11 pm in front of the Narandia Union Health Complex on the Netrakona-Mymensingh road.
The deceased were identified as the auto-rickshaw driver Md. Jalil, 45, son of Mia Hossain of Charkalibari area in Mymensingh, and Ruzel Mia, 45, son of Abdul Jalil of Kaliakona village under Amtala union in Netrakona Sadar upazila.
The injured were identified as Mosammat Rezia Akhter, 44, of Asdati village under Thakurakona union in Sadar upazila, Shahid Mia, 43, son of Posor Ali, and Shova Akhter, 22, daughter of Abdul Hai of Kaliakona village under Amtala union.
Police and witnesses said the victims were travelling to Netrakona from Shambhuganj Bridge area in Mymensingh by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
On the way, the speedy CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit a sand-laden truck which was stationed near Narandia Union Health Complex.
As a result, the auto-rickshaw was mangled and two people were killed on the spot.
Shyamganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Nannu Khan said, "On receiving information, we rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families after completing legal formalities."
 
The injured have been admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment, he added.
