RANGPUR, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Awami League (AL) leader Advocate Ali Akhter Jahangir Hossain Tuhin, 52, in three cases filed on charges of suppressing the anti-discrimination student movement and attempted murder.
"We arrested Advocate Tuhin from the Keramotia Mosque area of the city at around 6 pm on Wednesday," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station Md Ataur Rahman told BSS today.
Tuhin is the son of Bajlar Rahman of the Keranipara area of Rangpur metropolitan city. By profession, he is a lawyer at Rangpur Judge Court.
Politically, he has been serving as the religious affairs secretary of Rangpur Metropolitan Awami League, general secretary of Ward No 18 Awami League and a contributing member of the Bangabandhu Awami Lawyers Council.
Two of the three cases related to the anti-discrimination student movement are pending against Tuhin at the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station and one case at the Tajhat Metropolitan police station.
"We produced Advocate Ali Akhter Jahangir Hossain Tuhin before the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court today," the OC added.
