CHATTOGRAM, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - National Road Safety Day 2025 was observed in Chattogram today under the theme "Use quality helmets and maintain safe speed to reduce loss of life and property."

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) organized several programs to mark the day, including a colorful rally that began at 9:00 am from the Engineering Institution premises at Ispahani intersection and concluded at the Chattogram Circuit House.

A discussion meeting was held at the Circuit House conference room with Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Zia Uddin in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam, local officials, teachers, students, and general people participated at the event.

Speakers at the discussion emphasized that road safety is a national priority and urged strict enforcement of the Road Safety Act.

During the event, compensation checks totaling Tk 39 lakh were handed over to the families of nine people who were injured or lost their lives in road accidents in the district. 

Following the distribution, free quality helmets were given to 15 motorcycle license holders.

The program also included a road safety awareness show at the city's GEC intersection.
