PIROJPUR, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife in the district.

The court also fined convict Firoz Alam, son of late Mofazzel Hossain of Bhora village under Betagi upazila of Barguna district, Taka 15,000, in default, to suffer eight months more in jail.

Senior District and Sessions Judge Md. Mojibur Rahman delivered the verdict in presence of the convict on Tuesday afternoon. 

According to court sources, convict Firoz Alam hacked his wife Beauty Begum, mother of six children, to death over a family feud on the night of October 5, 2019. 

Later, Md. Yunus Mallick, brother of Beauty, filed a murder case with Bhandaria Police Station.

Police arrested him and produced before the court. After proving his guilt on the basis of lengthy testimony, the court gave the verdict today, said Public Prosecutor Adv. Abul Kalam Akon .
