PIROJPUR, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - Five shops were gutted in a fire at Ranipur area of Sadar  upazila of the district early today.  

The fire broke out from a shop at Ranipur Bazar around 3 am and soon engulfed the adjacent shops. The fire service members rushed to the spot and with the help of the locals brought the blaze under control after one hour of effort. 

However, a grocery store, a gold shop, a poultry and chicken food shop and a furniture shop were burnt to ashes in the fire. 

Fire Service Station In-charge, Warehouse Inspector Jugal Biswas confirmed the matter and said the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit. The fire may have caused an estimated loss of Taka 25 lakh.
