KHULNA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a divisional workshop here on Monday said active media participation is essential to raise public awareness and ensure the success of the ongoing Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) campaign.
The workshop was organised by NIMCO with the aim of strengthening media engagement in promoting mass awareness about vaccination.
They said media, can play a vital role in dispelling misinformation and encouraging parents to vaccinate their children.
Director General of the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMCO) Muhammad Hirauzzaman made the remarks while presiding over the inaugural session of the workshop on the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025 for journalists, held at the conference room of the Khulna Deputy Commissioner's office.
"The ongoing campaign to administer TCV to nearly five crore children is a significant step to protect them from typhoid fever," Hirauzzaman said, adding that mainstream media can make a meaningful impact by spreading accurate information.
Speaking as the chief guest, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Hossain Shawkat said that Bangladesh's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) has earned international recognition and called for strong media support to ensure the success of the current drive.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Toufiqur Rahman, Acting Divisional Director of Health Dr Md Mujibur Rahman, and UNICEF Khulna Chief Md Kawsar Hossain also addressed the event.
Parvin Sultana Rabbie, Director (Training and Engineering) of NIMCO, delivered the welcome speech, while Dr Tapas Kumar Halder, UNICEF National UPI Consultant, presented the keynote paper.
