Smuggled goods worth Tk 2.54cr seized in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Oct 19, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive seized huge smuggled goods worth Taka 2.54 crore from different border areas of the district this morning.

A team of Sultanpur BGB-60 Battalion conducted the drive at Brahmanpara and Burichang upazilas of the district and seized high-quality Indian sarees, food items and fireworks and mobile displays worth about Taka 2.54 crore, said Sultanpur BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ziaur Rahman.

He said that the BGB's regular patrols, intelligence activities and drives are continuing to maintain security and prevent smuggling in the border area. 

The BGB members have always played a responsible role in suppressing smuggling and maintaining law and order in the border areas. Such operations will continue in the future, he added.

The process of handing over these goods to the concerned authorities for further legal action is underway, the BGB official mentioned.
