BAGERHAT, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer named Niyam Mina, 55, died after being struck by a train in Fakirhat upazila of the district. 

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, in the Bhattkhamar area on the Khulna-Mongla railway line. The deceased Mina was identified as the son of the late Samad Mina of Bhattkhamar village.

According to the Station Master of Mongla Railway Station SM Monir Ahmed, farmer Niyam Mina was standing near Bridge No. 18 along with three others. When the train approached, three of them got down, but Mina tried to run across the bridge. At that moment he was hit by the train while crossing the bridge and died on the spot.

Fakirhat police said they rushed to the scene after receiving the news. The body of the deceased was recovered and handed over to his family after completing legal formalities.
