RANGPUR, Oct 16, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused in a sensational gang rape case of Saidpur upazila in Nilphamari district from the Dhakaiyatari area under Tajhat police station of Rangpur city on Wednesday.
 
The detainee was identified as Md Samir Hossain, 20, son of Md Abdur Rahim, a resident of the Bansbari Hanifmour area under Saidpur police station of Nilphamari district, said a press release. 
 
Citing the statement of the relevant case, the release said that the accused developed a love-love relationship with the victim from the same area and tempted the victim to marry her.
 
In continuation of this, the accused forcibly raped the victim against her will at 7 pm on July 29, 2025. 
 
Later, the victim's father filed a rape case at the Saidpur police station of Nilphamari district on August 9, 2025.
 
On a tip off, a joint team of the RAB-13's Crime Prevention Company-2 from Nilphamari camp and Crime Prevention Specialised Company from Rangpur in a raid arrested Md Samir Hossain from the Dhakaiyatari area of Rangpur city. 
 
The arrested was handed over to Saidpur police station in Nilphamari for further legal action.
