TANGAIL, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) – In line with the government’s directive to ban the netting, transportation, storage, marketing, buying, selling, and exchanging of Hilsa fish during the main breeding season, a mobile court was conducted in Sadar Upazila.
The drive was carried out by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sharmin Sultana at the Jamuna River today.
She said the operation took place in the Sadar Upazila section of the Jamuna River under a joint initiative of the district administration and the District Fisheries Department.
During the drive, around 20,000 meters of illegal current nets, valued at about Taka 7.50 lakh, were seized and destroyed.
She added that such operations will continue until October 25 to protect the mother Hilsa.
District Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Naushad Alam, along with officials from the District Fisheries Department, were present.
Members of law enforcement agencies assisted in the operation.
