Call for producing global standard products

RANGPUR, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - Officials and experts at a discussion have said that producing global standard high quality products is a must to make all developments admissible and attain the sustainable development goals (SDG) to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
 
They opined this at the discussion arranged in observance of the World Standards Day-2025 at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in Rangpur city today.
 
The district administration and divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) jointly organised the discussion to raise awareness about the quality and standards of products.
 
Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam attended the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal in the chair.
 
Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Rangpur CAB President Md Abdur Rahman, Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries Director Rashidus Sultan Bablu, addressed as special guests.
 
Deputy Director (Metrology) and Head of Office at BSTI Divisional Office in Rangpur and Office Chief Engineer Mubin-ul-Islam delivered a welcome speech and the keynote essay in the event.
 
The chief guest said every citizen must maintain quality from their own position, be it in the production process, service, or education. 
 
Quality services and products will brighten the image of the country and build a sustainable society for future generations. 
 
"To strengthen the export sector, the quality of the manufactured goods must be maintained correctly. To keep pace with the outside world, there is no alternative to following international standards," he said. 
 
The Rangpur Range DIG said, it is not possible to control product adulteration through law enforcement alone. Ethics and public awareness are needed to control adulteration. 
 
He called on manufacturers and traders to increase the quality of products by avoiding the mentality of producing substandard products in the hope of more profits. 
 
The Deputy Commissioner said that the purpose of celebrating the day is to make people aware about the quality of products or services. 

He expressed hope that by following the BSTI standards, the private sector, industrial entrepreneurs, traders and exporters will be more focused on producing quality and environmentally friendly sustainable products. 
 
Participating in an open discussion, entrepreneurs and traders expressed their opinions on facilitating BSTI services, extending the license period, and informing about product quality indicators.
