PATUAKHALI, Oct 13, 2025 (BSS) – The Forest Department, Mahipur Range, has started plantation zhau tree at Char Bijoy, a land of beauty that has awakened in the deep sea of the district.
The Forest Department today inaugurated a 40,000 zhau tree planting programme under the ‘Sufal Project’ at Char Bijoy.
Kalapara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Kuakata Municipal Administrator Yasin Sadek inaugurated the programme at a function. In the first phase, 8,000 zhau saplings were planted today.
Mahipur Range Officer AKM Moniruzzaman, Gangamati and Ecopark Bit Officer Abdur Razzak and other officers and employees of the Forest Department were present at the time.
Kalapara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Kuakata Municipal Administrator Yasin Sadek said that Zhau, Dhanshi, Sundari and Keora trees have been planted in Char Bijoy.
In the meantime, along with these trees, a wide cover of natural grass has been created, which has increased the natural beauty of the char.
They expressed hope that if continuous afforestation activities continue, Char Bijoy will become a natural forest and a safe haven for guest birds in the future.
Meanwhile, during the programme, forest department officials rescued an injured seagull bird. Later, the bird was handed over to the care of Bayezid Munshi, a member of 'Animal Lovers Patuakhali', for treatment and care.
