CHATTOGRAM, Oct 11, 2025 (BSS) - A breast cancer awareness programme will begin tomorrow with a meeting and training session for students and teachers at Gul-Ezar Begum City Corporation Girls' High School in the city.
The session, scheduled to start at 10:30 am will be attended by Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain as the chief guest.
Surgeons from CSCR and PGS Academia, led by Dr. Sakera Ahmed will conduct the session.
Later at 1:30 pm, a team of specialists including Professor Dr. Khandaker A.K. Azad, Dr. Nazma Mahbub, and Dr. Saira Banu Shiuli will begin free breast cancer operations at CSCR.
The free surgery initiative, recommended by the mayor, will continue throughout the month of October.
A month-long breast cancer awareness campaign was launched in Chattogram on October 1.
As part of the campaign, free breast cancer screening and counseling services are available for women at the Center for Specialized Care and Research (CSCR), located at Prabortak Moor, every day from 3 pm to 6 pm.
Registered patients are entitled to a 50 percent discount on relevant tests. In addition, CSCR will provide free treatment to 10 breast cancer patients.
The awareness and treatment initiatives are being jointly implemented by CSCR, PGS Academia, and Chattogram City Corporation.
