Over 8 lakh children to receive typhoid vaccine in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 8,05,245 children in eight upazilas of Chandpur district will be brought under the typhoid vaccination campaign set to begin on October 12 under the government's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).

The information was disclosed at a district-level consultation meeting held at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon's Office on Thursday morning.

Dalia Yasmin, Director (Publicity and Coordination) of the Department of Mass Communication, joined the event virtually and delivered the welcome speech.

Chandpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ershad Uddin addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Nur Alam Din presided over the session.

The campaign will target all children aged 9 months to 15 years, including students from pre-primary to grade 9, each of whom will receive one dose of the typhoid vaccine.

Speakers at the event included District Information Officer Tapan Bepari, Press Club President Rahim Badsha, General Secretary Quader Palash, and Medical Officer (MOCS) Dr Md Sakhawat Hossain.

It was informed that 41 percent of the children have already been registered online. The vaccination program will cover 3,758 educational institutions, including pre-primary, primary, secondary, and religious schools, while 2,424 community vaccination centers have been designated for the campaign.
