Families of road accident victims get Tk 25 lakh in Gazipur

GAZIPUR, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Trustee Board handed over financial assistance cheques worth Taka 20 lakh to the families of five individuals who lost their lives in  road accidents in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Nafisa Arefin handed over the cheques among the deceased families at the district administration office on Wednesday afternoon. 

Assistant Director of BRTA Gazipur Circle Mahfuzur Rahman, Motor Vehicle Inspector Nasirul Arefin and others were present at the time. 

Josna Khatun, wife of the deceased Ahidul, said, "My husband died in a road accident a year ago. I was very worried about my two children. Today I received Taka 5 lakh, it seems like a dream to me. With this money, I will be able to live with my children. I am eternally grateful to those who extended this support."

BRTA Gazipur Circle Assistant Director SM Mahfuzur Rahman said, BRTA Trustee Board today gave a cheque of Taka 25 lakh to five deceased families in Gazipur. 

Another incentive of Taka 1.75 crore will be given in a few days. 

According to BRTA sources, if the family of the deceased or seriously injured applies in the prescribed form with appropriate evidence within 30 days of the accident, the Trustee Board approves the application after sifting through the application and selecting the financial assistance. 

The deceased victims are Abu Bakkar Siddique, Bijoy Hossain, Ahidul Islam, Sumon Hossain and Monira Khatun.
