Abrar Fahad is a symbol of anti-imperialist struggle: Khulna DC

KHULNA, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Remembering late Abrar Fahad on his sixth death anniversary, Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md. Toufiqur Rahman has described him as a symbol of anti-imperialist struggle and a torchbearer of the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War.

"Abrar Fahad was a brilliant student. His writings reflected deep love for the country and a strong commitment to justice. He envisioned a peaceful, equitable society where everyone could live with dignity. As long as Bangladesh exists, Abrar will remain a source of inspiration," the DC told a discussion as chief guest held on Tuesday night at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium.

The event was organized by the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy with support from the Khulna District Administration to commemorate Abrar's legacy.

DC Toufiqur Rahman added Abrar had sown the seeds of the spirit of the July Revolution through his ideals and convictions.

He paid tribute to the young martyr's unwavering belief in justice and national dignity.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas spoke at the programme, among others. District Cultural Officer Md. Rafiqul Islam delivered the welcome address.

The program concluded with a screening of the documentary "You Failed to Kill Abrar Fahad", which chronicles the life, dreams, and legacy of the young student.

Abrar Fahad, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was tortured and beaten to death on October 7, 2019, by leaders and activists of now banned terrorist organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the fallen fascist Awami League.
