NAOGAON, Oct 4, 2025 (BSS) - A fisherman was killed in a lightning strike  while fishing in a beel under Sadar upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Mofiz Uddin Basu, 60, son of late Sohir Uddin  (Chuta) Pramanik of Bhimpur village of Hansaigari union.

The incident took place this afternoon in Hansaigari Beel under Naogaon sadar  upazila.

Local Union Parishad Chairman Jasim Uddin Molla said on information, the body  was recovered from the spot and brought home. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station Nur Alam Siddiqui said  police confirmed the death of Basu in a lightning strike from the local Union  Parishad Chairman. 

The family of the deceased recovered the body and took it home, he added.
