Durga Puja celebrated amid religious fervor in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) – Mentioning that Durga Puja was celebrated amid religious fervor and enthusiasm, Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed said the communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims is outstanding in the district.

“The five-day Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, has been celebrated in all seven upazilas of the district since Sunday,” he said.

“Not only Hindu devotees are visiting the puja mandaps, but Muslims are also visiting and exchanging pleasantries,” he added.

Observing the relationship between Hindu devotees and Muslims, it can be said that excellent communal harmony has been prevailing in the district, where 585 puja mandaps were erected this year.

DC Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed made the remarks while exchanging pleasantries after visiting a puja mandap in the Kalibari area of Palashbari upazila town on Tuesday evening.

During his visit, puja committee members briefed the DC, saying that they were celebrating the festival peacefully without any hassle. They also thanked the administration for taking strict security measures to maintain law and order in and around the puja mandaps of the upazila.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Al-Yasha Rahman Tapadar, Officer-in-Charge of Palashbari Thana Zulficar Ali Bhutto, and local elites were present during the DC’s visit.
