CHATTOGRAM, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - A Chattogram court today sentenced an individual to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for possessing arms and ammunition.

The 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge, Serajum Munira, handed down the verdict.

The accused Md. Iftekhar Alam Rahat, son of Md. Nizam Uddin of Farhadnagar area under Feni Sadar Police Station, previously resided in Saripara under Pahartali Police Station in Chattogram city.

Rahat was arrested on February 5, 2024, from a vacant lot behind a rickshaw garage in Uttar Saraipara. Police recovered a foreign pistol and an empty magazine from him. 

The case was filed by Sub-Inspector Syed Mayuddin Ahmed Faisa of Pahartali Police Station.

The court, after examining seven of the 10 prosecution witnesses, delivered the verdict in the presence of the convict.
