DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - An old man died after falling from the roof of a 9-storey building in Old Dhaka's Hazaribagh area.

The deceased was identified as Sanatan Kumar Das (75), a resident of house at 285/4 on Road No. 15, Hazaribagh.

The accident occurred around 8 pm on Wednesday while Sanatan was walking on the roof of their nine-storey building at Hazaribagh, police and family sources said.  

He was later taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctor on duty declared the old man dead around 10:45 pm on Wednesday.

His son Rajat Chandra Das, who brought the deceased to the hospital, said, "On Wednesday night, my father fell from the roof of the 9th floor of our house while walking on the roof as per his regular routine. Later, my father was rescued in a critical condition and was first taken to the local Sikder Medical College Hospital. When his condition deteriorated there, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment where he was declared dead by the doctors on duty."
