KHULNA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) – The law enforcement agencies in separate drives arrested five criminals along with arms and ammunition in Khulna in last 16 hours.

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) conducted an operation around 3.45pm today at Rupsha Strand Road under Khulna sadar police station area and arrested a criminal , Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar police station confirmed.

Receiving a complaint through the national emergency service 999, a police team went to the spot and arrested Niloy when he was beating up a youth Yunus demanding extortion, OC said, adding that police also rescued Yunus.

Police also seized one shooter gun and one round of bullet from his residence following his confessional statement. 

The arrested Niloy was wanted in four cases, mostly extortion in different police stations of KMP, OC added.

In another drive, a joint forces team conducted an operation last midnight at the Gazirhat area in Dighalia Upazila in Khulna and arrested four   criminals, according to an ISPR issued by Khulna Navy today.

The arrestees are Monzu Shikder, Benzir Shikder, Firoz Shikder and Shamim Sheikh.

Acting on a tip-off, the Navy, in cooperation with Dighalia Thana police, went to the area around 11.45pm yesterday and arrested the criminals.

The arrested have been wanted in an attempt to murder case, filed with Dighalia police station and they were absconding for long, the ISPR added.
