Cashless transaction can reduce corruption and ensure security: Experts

RAJSHAHI, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - Cashless transactions can not only make the financial transaction easier but also to reduce corruption, bring transparency and ensure security to the public in general.
Besides, cashless transactions are very important to make Digital Bangladesh. So, all quarters should come forward and work together to make the cashless Bangladesh Initiative in Rajshahi a total success.
Senior bankers and experts came up with the observation while addressing a seminar titled “Expansion of cashless Bangladesh Initiative to Rajshahi” here today.

Bangladesh Bank and Brac Bank jointly organized the seminar at the auditorium of Jail Training Centre discussing and devising ways and means on how to take the digital economy ahead and to make cashless transactions popular.

The meeting was told that the Cashless Bangladesh campaign aims to promote digital transactions and reduce cash dependency by enhancing financial inclusion and leveraging technology.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Khondoker Azim Ahmed addressed the seminar as the chief guest with Bangladesh Bank Director Rafeza Akter Kanta in the chair.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brac Bank Tareque Refat Ullah Khan, Bangladesh Bank Director Shorafat Ullah Khan and Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan also spoke on the occasion. 
Commissioner Khondoker Azim Ahmed said the entire world is going ahead quickly towards cashless transactions and Bangladesh is not lag-behind.

People of the country have already been doing financial transactions through mobile financial service, interment banking, online payment, QR code and digital wallet easily.

He, however, said more public awareness is needed to reach the initiative to the grassroots more. Utmost emphasis should be given to expand the banking services to rural people and the business community should come forward.
Tareque Refat Ullah Khan said the cashless economy not only ensures safe and transparent transactions but also expedites the country’s economy. It’s very helpful to make revenue earning easier side by side intensifying the country’s economic growth.
He stressed the need for familiarizing the students with digital banking together with strengthening and protecting the technology-based banking system.
