CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - With the slogan "My Upazila is my responsibility, let the life of the child be free from child marriage," Shibganj upazila of the Chapainawabganj district has been officially declared a child marriage-free upazila.

The declaration was made at a function held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium this noon, organized by the Shibganj upazila administration with the support of the Strengthening Social and Behavior Change (SSBC) Project of World Vision Bangladesh.

Shibganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Azahar Ali formally announced the upazila as free from child marriage at the event.

A discussion meeting was also held on the occasion, jointly moderated by World Vision Bangladesh Project Officer of the SSBC Project Uttam Mandal and Youth Representative Md. Halim Mollah.

Deputy Director of World Vision Bangladesh (Khulna, Barisal, and Rajshahi Region Field Operations) Raju William Rosario, Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Kibria, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Nayan Mia, Dr. Md. Rabiul Islam, Upazila Education Officer Md. Mosabbir Hossain Khan, journalist Md. Ahsan Habib, and leaders from various professions were present at the programme.

Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of sustained community awareness, law enforcement, and multi-sectoral collaboration to uphold the declaration and ensure a secure future for children.
