RANGPUR, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen today laid foundation stone of the ACC's new seven-storey integrated district and divisional office building in Alamnagar area of the city. 
 
After formally laying the foundation stone by unveiling a plaque in a colorful ceremony, he inaugurated the construction work of the new building by pouring cement concrete in the basement of the site as the chief guest.
 
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal presided over the function and delivered a welcome speech.
 
ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain addressed the function as special guest.
 
Rangpur Divisional Director of ACC Mohammad Nurul Huda, its Deputy Director for the integrated Rangpur district office Md Shaon Mia, government officials and members of the District Corruption Prevention Committee were present
 
The Public Works Department (PWD), the government's construction agency, is implementing the construction work by appointing a contracting company Messer's MK Traders and Syed Sajjad Ali (JV) at cost of Taka 19.13 crore.
 
On the occasion, the ACC Chairman said that the inauguration of the ACC's Rangpur district and divisional office will further expand its activities in this region and add a new dimension to the fight against corruption. 
 
Regarding the prevention of corruption, he said that it is not possible to completely eradicate corruption through punishment alone. 
 
"Mutual sincerity and good relations between service providers and service recipients can reduce corruption to a large extent," he said. 
 
The ACC is working to establish links between service providers and recipients. 
 
In response to a question from journalists, he said that the Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is a person against corruption. 
 
"Even if anyone from his advisory council is involved in corruption, he is not willing to give them any concessions. If the allegations are specific, appropriate action will be taken according to the existing law of the ACC," he said. 
 
He said that the role of journalists is very important in preventing corruption and they can play the role of whistleblowers by exposing corruption issues. 
 
"The objective news disseminated by media workers can eradicate corruption from the society," he said. 
 
He called on all concerned to play an effective role in preventing corruption and establishing accountability.
