GOPALGANJ, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - A minor boy drowned in a pond at Dharabashil village under Kotalipara upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sidhu Biswas, 5, son of Sujan Biswas, a resident of Ramjanpur village under Gournadi upazila in Barishal district.

According to police, the child came to his grandmother's house along with his mother in Dharabashil village of Kotalipara upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotalipara Police Station Khandaker Hafizur Rahman said the boy accidentally fell into a pond near the house around 10am without anyone noticing.

Later, family members rescued him and took him to the Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared him dead.
