Tarique Rahman to join virtually tomorrow’s Naogaon dist BNP biennial council

NAOGAON, Aug 10, 2025 (BSS) –After a lapse of 15 years, the Naogaon District BNP is set to hold its long-awaited biennial council tomorrow.

Talking to BSS, Rezaul Karim Badsha, the chief coordinator of the council management committee and president of the Bogura District unit of BNP today said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will join the conference virtually as the chief guest with the speeches on new strategies for party management and motivating the leaders and activists. 

Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, will be the main speaker at the event, he added.
 
The council will feature direct elections for the positions of president, general secretary and organizing secretary respectively. 
Councillors will elect the new leadership in these three posts through voting at the Naogaon Convention Centre, located at Baludanga Bus Stand in Naogaon city.
A total of 1,414 councillors from 11 upazilas and three 'Pourashava' committees are expected to participate in voting that  will take place from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Rezaul Karim Badsha highlighted that the last Naogaon District BNP biennial council was held in 2010. 
Tomorrow’s council has generated significant enthusiasm among leaders and activists. Eight candidates are vying for the post of president, four for general secretary and eight for the two organizing secretary positions.

The council will be inaugurated by Abdus Salam, BNP Chairperson's advisor and a freedom fighter. 
SM Rezaul Islam Rezu, acting convener of Naogaon District BNP, will preside over the event.
