THAKURGAON, Aug 5, 2025 (BSS) - A special gathering honoring the frontline fighters of the historic July Uprising was held at the District Shilpakala Academy this afternoon.
The event, organized by the district administration, brought together movement veterans, political leaders and dignitaries from across the region to commemorate the pivotal role of students and mass people during the uprising.
Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana attended the programme as chief guest, while Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zahidul Islam was present as special guest.
Participants were welcomed with floral tributes at the start of the ceremony.
Speakers at the event described the July Uprising as a watershed moment in the nation's struggle against injustice, corruption, and authoritarianism.
They noted that what began as a student-led protest demanding quota reform soon transformed into a mass movement for democracy and justice.
Emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the uprising, speakers urged the new generation to learn from this chapter of history and remain committed to democratic values and accountability.
