Ctg water logging problem improved significantly: Mayor

CHATTOGRAM, July 31, 2025 (BSS)- Claiming that the water logging situation in Chattogram city has improved significantly, City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, they have been able to resolve 50 to 60 percent of water logging problem of the city.

“However, some work is still needed to completely solve it,” he told journalists after visiting various points of the city experiencing severe water logging.

The mayor visited box culvert cleaning activities and the water flow situation of Nasir Canal in the city's Agrabad Chowmuhani area today.
He said, Agrabad box culvert cleaning work, being implemented by the Bangladesh Navy, will be completed within two months. Once the work is completed, water logging in Agrabad and surrounding areas will be resolved to a great extent, he hoped.

Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, it is not enough to just clean the canals, the city residents also have to be aware to keep the canals clean.

Laying importance on establishing a 'city government' for the long-term development of the city, he said, it is the demand of the time to form a unified authority under city mayor for development of the city.

CCC Secretary Md. Ashraful Amin, Chief Engineer Farhadul Alam, Box Culvert Project Director Commander Md. Enamul Islam and former councilor Niaz Mohammad Khan were present.
