One held with 420 grams gold in Jashore

JASHORE, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler with 450 grams of gold worth about Taka 61 lakh from Muradgarh Bazar in Churamonkati of Sadar upazila early today.

The arrestee is Zahid Mandol, 36, son of Hannan Mandal, a resident of Doppara village under Baliakandi Police Station in Rajbari district.

Commander of BGB-49 Battalion Lt. Col. Saifullah Siddiqui said Zahid was heading towards Benapole border with the gold for smuggling to India around 5.30 am. 

During initial interrogation, Zahid said that he had collected the gold from a smuggler in Dhaka's Dholaipar area and was heading towards Benapole to smuggle the gold to India. 

The BGB commander also said that a case has been filed with Jashore Kotwali Police Station in this regard and the arrested Zahid Mall has been handed over to the police.
