RANGPUR, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in separate drives fined four business establishments Taka 55,000 on various charges today at different places of Pirganj upazila in the district.
 
The Rangpur divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Pirganj upazila administration jointly conducted the drives, said a press release. 
 
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Khadija Begum led the mobile court.
 
During the drive, the court fined Hakim Foods Limited of Pirganj Taka 20,000 for not having a verification certificate for the truck way bridge as per the Weights and Measures Act-2018. 
 
On the other hand, the court fined Nature Sweets and Gulshan Hotel in Pirganj Bazar Taka 5,000 and Taka 20,000 respectively under Section 24(1)/41 of the same act for selling and distributing curd and sweets without accepting the certificate. 
 
Besides, the mobile court fined Sheikh Doi Ghar Hotel of Pirganj Taka 10,000 under the Consumer Rights Act. 
 
The BSTI prosecutors were Field Officer (Certification Marks) Md Towhid Al Amin and Inspector (Metrology) Md Almas Mia. 
 
Talking to BSS today, Deputy Director (Physical) and Rangpur divisional office Chief of BSTI Mobin-Ul-Islam said that the divisional BSTI office will continue such drives in the public interest.
