KHULNA, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - Two more persons died at a city hospital after
drinking toxic country-made liquor in Dumuria upazila of the district on
Friday and Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Robiul Gazi, son of Rezwan Gazi, and Russel
Sarder, son of Jamir Sarder, both are residents of Thukra village under the
upazila.
Earlier, five people died in Khulna city after drinking toxic liquor and
police detained the alleged manufacturer.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dumuria Police Station Md. Masud Rana said both
individuals consumed a type of alcohol known as "Speed" on Friday night in
Thukra Bazaar.
Robiul Gazi, one of them, died on Friday night and the other, Russel Sarder,
died on Saturday night, he said.
The incident occurred in Thukra village of Dumuria upazila on Friday while
several individuals have fallen seriously sick after drinking toxic "Speed".
Of them, Robiul and Russel were rushed to Dumuria Health Complex but later
they were shifted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) as their
condition deteriorated.
The OC said several others from the same area have also fallen seriously ill
and are receiving treatment at different hospitals while keeping the matter
confidential.

Legal action is being taken in connection with the deaths, the OC added.
