BAGERHAT, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - As part of the ongoing July Revival Programmes, a tree plantation programme was held in the district in memory of nine brave martyrs from Bagerhat who sacrificed their lives during the July mass uprising.

The district BNP and Krishak Dal jointly organised the "One Martyr, One Tree" programme this morning on the premises of the Freedom Fighters' Office adjacent to the Daratana River in the district aiming to honour the freedom-seeking souls through symbolic green tribute.

The district convener of BNP Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim inaugurated the programme.

Nine martyrs including Alamgir, Jasim, Sabbir, Siam, Mahfuz, Biplob, Alvi, Anwar and Shahin, who were brutally killed on the streets of Dhaka by the direction of fascist government, are sleeping on the soil of their beloved Khalifabad holy land in Bagerhat.

To immortalize the memory of all those martyrs, nine mango saplings were planted there.

District BNP joint convener Khadem Neyamul Nasir Alap, Bagerhat Sadar Thana BNP convener Dr. Habibur Rahman Siddiqui, Bagerhat Municipality BNP general secretary Syed Obaidul Islam Jewel, District Krishak Dal convener Syed Asafuddaula Jewel, JASAS general secretary Nargis Akhter Luna and others were present.
