RANGPUR, July 13, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has arrested the prime accused in a rape case from the Proyas Entertainment Park area under Rangpur metropolis.

The arrestee has been identified as Md Jahangir Alam, 20, son of Md Mozaffar Hossain of village Bishnupur Panch Tepati Paikar Para under Badarganj police station in Rangpur district.

On a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13 conducted a raid in the Proyas Entertainment Park area and arrested the absconding prime accused Jahangir Alam in the rape case at 10 pm on Saturday.

Earlier, accused Jahangir lured the victim girl with promises of love and marriage, and called her to the house of a woman named Marina Begum, located behind Badarganj Government Degree College in Badarganj upazila town on July 4, 2025.

When the victim reached the house at 11:30 am that day, Jahangir raped her.

Later, the victim filed a rape case with Badarganj police station on July 5.

The arrested accused has been handed over to Badarganj police station for further legal action.
