KHULNA, July 9, 2025 (BSS) - The National Citizens Party (NCP) is set to stage a historic procession in Khulna on Friday, as part of its nationwide campaign to promote "Message of Change" ahead of the upcoming national election.
Leaders of the party's Khulna City and District Units made the announcement at two separate press conferences held Tuesday at the Khulna Press Club.
At the first briefing, Hafiz Maulana Mahmudul Hasan (Fayzullah), Chief Coordinator of the District Unit, read out a written statement.
Dr. Md. Abdullah Chowdhury, member secretary of the procession implementation committee, also spoke.
They informed that several top central leaders of the NCP are expected to attend the event, including Central Convener Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and central leaders Samantha Sharmin, Nasiruddin Patwary, Tasnim Zara, Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam.
Later, the City Unit of NCP held a separate press conference at the same venue.
City Unit Organizer Ahmmad Hamim Rahat addressed the briefing, accompanied by lecturer Iqbal Hossain Morol, Farid Ahmed Pathan, Advocate Moinul Islam Jibon, Arifuzzaman Arif, and Ramzan Sheikh, among others.
The programme will begin with special prayers at the graveyard of the July Uprising martyrs and include a meeting with the families of those killed or injured during the movement.
According to organizers, the procession will begin at 5:00 pm from Shibbari Intersection and end around 7:00 pm at the People's Premises in Khalishpur.
Preparations for the event are in full swing, with campaign activities including leaflet distribution, wall writing and the display of posters and festoons throughout the city.
A 21-member coordination committee is overseeing the arrangements to ensure the success of the event.
NCP leaders emphasized that the procession will be entirely peaceful and democratic, aiming to foster a culture of constructive politics and civic responsibility.
They said the party seeks to highlight its commitment to justice, people's rights and social harmony through this initiative.
