MAGURA, June 18, 2025 (BSS) - The 'Jute Farmers' Assembly-2025', jointly organized by the District Administration, Magura, and the Department of Jute under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute was held at 12 pm today at the District Auditorium in Magura.
Jute farmers from various upazilas of the district participated in the event.
Md. Ohidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Magura attended the program as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said the government is highly committed to expanding jute cultivation. He emphasized that every effort is being made to promote this promising sector using modern technology, training, and support.
Special guest Md. Kamal Uddin, Assistant Director of the Department of Jute, stated that the government has taken various initiatives to ensure fair pricing of jute and that field-level officials are actively working to provide direct assistance to the farmers.
Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Jute Development Officer of Magura, mentioned that timely cultivation and proper care can significantly increase jute production.
Syed Alauddin, Chief Inspector of the Department of Jute in Magura, said that the department is working closely with farmers to restore jute’s status as the “Golden Fiber.”
Prokash Chandra Sarkar, Additional Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, stressed the importance of incorporating modern techniques in jute cultivation to ensure higher yields at lower costs.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasibul Hasan assured that the local administration is providing all necessary support to farmers on the ground and will continue to do so in the future.
