DHAKA, May 25, 2022 (BSS) - A high-level delegation of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), headed by its President Faruque Hassan, will be visiting Germany from 01-03 June 2022.

They will meet high officials of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, said a press release today.

They will also attend a textile roundtable, to be jointly organised by the Germany Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), VFI-German Importers and the Commercial Wing of the Bangladesh Embassy, Berlin in Hamburg.

They will meet some renowned German brands, business association and visit the AMD Hamburg Academy of Fashion and Design.

The whole programme is coordinated by the Commercial Wing, Bangladesh Embassy, Germany. The delegation will discuss German Due Diligence and Supply Chain Law 2021, trends and sustainability initiatives and GSP.

Talking to BSS, Commercial Counsellor of the Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin Md Saiful Islam said, "While Germany is our second highest export destination. This year our export target to Germany is US$6.6 billion, we achieved $6.3 billion in April '22, which is a 29 percent increase in year-on-year comparison."

He informed that the BGMEA delegation will not only meet with high-level representatives from Federal Ministries but also attend a roundtable discussion, where renowned German brands will attend.

The Commercial Counsellor added that this visit, as part of 'Apparel Diplomacy', will undoubtedly strengthen trade relations and increase Bangladesh's export to Germany as well as Europe.
